Helion Galactic is a concept company that launches solar-powered data centres into a dawn-dusk orbit, where they run AI in almost constant sunlight and send the results home over Starlink. The name comes from Helios, the Greek sun.
The problem it answers is simple. Every new data centre on Earth competes for electricity, water and land, and a solar farm on the ground spends half its life in the dark. A dawn-dusk orbit rides the line between day and night, where the sun is almost always in view.
I built the identity from one geometric mark, a sun inside an orbit with a quarter left open towards the light. Around it I set out a colour, type, illustration and motion system, and designed a scroll-driven website that explains the idea in under a minute.
Highlights
- Mark built on a 32-unit grid: a sun, and the orbit around it
- Archivo Expanded wordmark, spaced like hull lettering
- One illustration and motion language, always lit from the top right
- Scroll-driven website with a live, simulated fleet
