Chip Away started with a feeling I know well: a goal so big you can't see where to start, so you don't. Take a Minecraft world, with a castle, an iron farm, a mansion and hundreds of stacks of material behind them. The work isn't hard. Choosing where to begin is.
The idea borrows the most trusted rule in beginner coding. In Scratch, a block can hold other blocks. Chip Away gives your to-do list the same rule: drag a block into a block, and keep going until the step in front of you takes ten minutes. Every step gets an address like 1.2.3, finished work turns green, and you tick each level yourself.
I took the idea from a sketch to a working product with its own identity, designed around that one object, the block: the icon, wordmark, type, colour, the anatomy of a step, the small rewards for finishing one, and a pricing model.
