EX16 connects homeowners in Tiverton and the EX16 postcode with local trades. The old site worked like most lead sites: homeowners posted jobs and trades bought tokens to reply, so every job became a race and nobody had a reason to recommend anyone else.
I rebuilt it as a members' collective: up to fifty local businesses, never more than two in the same trade, each paying a flat £50 a month to be listed, reviewed and recommended. The limit is the selling point, so the site shows it everywhere.
I designed and built the whole product, from joining and Stripe billing to the directory, member dashboards, published reviews and an admin view of the collective. Every rule the business depends on is enforced in the database, and listings follow payment with no manual steps.
Highlights
- Fifty spots, two per trade, £50 a month flat
- Capacity limits enforced in the database, inside a lock
- Stripe Billing drives listings: they appear, hide and return as payments do
- Reviews published good and bad, with any rejection reason recorded
